Dr Gary Aram

Dr Aram was born in Nottingham and studied medicine at Liverpool, qualifying in 1976. After graduation he continued his training around both The Wirral and Liverpool.

He returned to the Midlands, joining the Countesthorpe practice in 1980 and was appointed as a lecturer at the Leicester University Medical School in 1984. The practice regularly has medical students in their third year of training and Dr Aram’s area of academic interest is the assessment of clinical competence. In addition to medical student teaching he is also a trainer for doctors specialising in General Practice.

Dr Aram’s qualifications include: Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, Diploma in Child Health, Diploma of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Family Planning Certificate, Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Member of the Academy of Medical Educators and Member of the Society of Academic Primary Care.

Within the practice he is the Senior Partner and is responsible for finance and the commissioning of services. He is married with 5 children and his hobbies include squash, golf and cars.

Dr Sue Ring

Dr. Ring trained as a GP at Countesthorpe under the supervision of Dr. Wright. She has been a partner since 1989. She is married with 4 children and lives in Peatling Parva. Her hobbies are DIY, hill walking, skiing and being on holiday.

She works 4 days a week at the Health Centre. She is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and has a Family Planning Certificate and Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

She is heavily involved with training young doctors, both those who wish to specialise as a GP and those who plan to pursue a hospital career.

Within the partnership she is responsible for the staff, quality initiatives and health promotion.

She is currently on secondment one day a week in the Postgraduate Deanery for General Practice, helping to structure the way in which trainee GPs learn in Accident & Emergency.

Dr Rob Browne

Dr Rob Browne was born in London and studied Medicine at Leicester University, qualifying in 1993. He did his vocational training for general practice at Countesthorpe and has been a partner since 2000.

He is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and is a GP trainer. Within the practice he is the Clinical Governance Lead and has an interest in information technology in general practice.

Outside of the practice he is a GP with Special Interest in Substance Misuse for Leicestershire County and Rutland PCT.

He lives in Bruntingthorpe with his wife Sarah and son Matthew. He is a keen footballer and other interests include music and reading.

Dr Sue Pearce

Dr. Pearce grew up in Lancashire and studied at Leicester University. She completed her GP training at Countesthorpe in 2004 and joined the permanent team in the same year.

She has a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Family Planning. She is also a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners. Within the practice she has an interest in Palliative Care and is involved in the teaching of medical students and Foundation Year Registrars.

She is married, has a baby daughter and lives in Wigston. Aside from her work she enjoys reading, walking and music. She is also involved with one of the churches in Wigston.

Dr Niamh Collins

Dr. Collins trained in Newcastle and qualified in 1997.

She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of General Practitioners. Within the practice she has responsibility for the dispensary.

She used to have lots of hobbies but now has 5 young children.

Dr Maria Keerig

Dr. Keerig graduated from the University of Leicester in 2000. She joined the practice at Countesthorpe as a salaried doctor in January 2008 after a period of hospital and GP vocational training.

She has an interest in medical education and is involved in medical student training in the practice.

She has a broad range of interests outside work including a new found interest in gardening and cooking.

Dr Brigitte Gaillard

Dr Brigitte Gaillard was born in Germany and studied medicine in Goettingen and Aachen, where she qualified in1989. She completed her postgraduate training as a GP in London in 1998 and worked as a GP in Liverpool until she moved with her husband and 2 children to Leicester in 2009.

She is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and has an interest in Women’s Health, holding a diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and a Family Planning certificate. She is involved in training Medical Students and GP Registrars.

She joined the Countesthorpe Health Centre in August 2010. Outside the practice she works as a GP Appraiser for the Leicester City PCT.

Her hobbies are swimming, cycling, running and skiing and she enjoys travelling, cooking/eating good food, reading and watching independent film.

Dr Caroline Bird

Dr Bird was born in Leicestershire. She studied at Durham University and then completed her medical training in London, qualifying in 1996.

She undertook her GP training in Kettering and since qualifying as a GP has worked in Northamptonshire and Leicestershire.

She is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and has additional qualifications in family planning.

Dr Bird lives in Leicestershire and is married with 3 sons. She spends most of her spare time watching them take part in various sporting activities.

Dr Siang Lim

Dr Siang Lim is a GP Registrar who will be at the practice for a year from August 2010 to early August 2011.
